RESEARCH & INSIGHT
Strategy starts with data and insight — be that historic analysis, focus groups or market research. My approach is always tailored, but typically follows 5 stages:
1.Align on the basics
First, we’ll define what you’re looking to learn — and crucially, why. Over a call, we will dig into what insight you need to help you get there, agreeing upon an output that delivers tangible impact. I’ll wrap this up with a clear brief and project timeframe.
2.Define your insight gap
To avoid unnecessary research, I’ll define what you or your team already know. I may digest documents, analyze data or conduct interviews. An output of this may be a clear outline of your insight gap(s) — and summary of key foundational learnings.
3.Define a method
I’ll define a research method that fills your insight gap. The framework will be tailored to your needs and tool infrastructure. This could vary from social listening, to audience surveys, to stakeholder interviews — or a mixture of multiple research methods.
4.Gather insight
Once we are aligned, I’ll conduct the research — sharing back at a cadence that feels right. I’ll present the final output to you, gather feedback then action any updates until we’re all happy.
5.Turn insight into action
It’s crucial for insight to be directive so it doesn’t live in a silo. I’ll define a view of next steps and present the insights as needed. It may be that a few variants are required, tailored to different audiences — be that an executive summary for senior leaders, or one that lifts out specific actions for creative and campaigning teams. -
DIGITAL & GROWTH STRATEGY
My strategies are enriched by data, insight and ambition — be they growth hacking, campaign planning or end to end strategy. Examples steps I take:
1.Define success
First, I’ll define your ambitions and success criteria — short, medium and long term. Where relevant, I’ll engage stakeholders, through interviews, surveys and focus groups. We’ll align on what a good output should look like and ultimately achieve.
2.Gather data & insight
I’ll conduct the required research to fill any insight gaps you have, developing a clear view of benchmarks, target audiences, and your landscape. I’ll define any barriers you need to overcome to meet your goals, and key growth opportunities. For growth work, this may include an expansion framework that prioritizes opportunity markets or audiences.
3.Define your objectives & KPIs
Based on gathered data, insight and opportunity, I will offer a projected view of short, medium and longer term SMART objectives — underpinned by the scale of targetable audiences, and the time needed to overcome any barriers.
4.Plan for activation
I’ll shape a data-driven implementation plan that turns insight into action. This may include a view of how to segment and nurture your audiences from awareness to action, any technology or solutions you need to be able to activate your plans, and an ultimate campaign plan.
5.Measure & Evolve
The proof is in the pudding. A clear measurement and evaluation framework will outline how you measure the impact of the strategy. As you test and learn your way into its delivery, we may revisit and evolve the approach using real-time insight. -
CAMPAIGN DELIVERY & CONSULTANCY
Once we’ve aligned on your audiences and strategic vision, I can help you turn your plan into action through campaign oversight. Strategy should not stop just because launch has happened: a launch is just the start - and is when the real work begins, learning and evolving with data.
I can work closely with your teams to ensure they’re delivering on the strategy they’ve been set - providing a strategic eye throughout to bring us back to the objective and ensure we’re delivering with purpose.
Alternatively, if you need a more hands-on approach, I can help. Unlike many strategists who are great with ideas, I’ve got an operational understanding of systems. Not only does this mean I know from personal experience what’s possible, it means I’m your one-man-shop for delivery.
I’ve got strong experience in paid media management (from Meta to AdWords and everything in-between) and have an analytical ability for dashboard building and insightful reports that tell stories.
